What is psoriasis? 

Psoriasis is a non-contagious disorder which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. The scaly patches caused by psoriasis, called psoriatic plaques, are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes on a silvery-white appearance. Plaques frequently occur on the skin of the elbows and knees, but can affect any area including the scalp and genitals.

How many types of psoriasis are there?The main forms of psoriasis are vulgaris, pustular, plaque, and inverse. The most common form is vulgaris, which appears as reddened patches a few cm across in size. Pustular, appears as blisters of noninfectious pus on a base of reddened skin. Plaque, will display areas of reddened skin covered with silvery scales. Inverse, appears as smooth, shinny red patches in areas of friction such as in folds of skin in the groin, armpits or under the breasts. Psoriasis may also affect some of the joints causing discomfort and restricted motion called psoriatic arthritis. It may also affect the fingernails and toenails.

How is psoriasis treated?The lowest level of treatment is the use of topical medicines which are applied to the skin (eg. Topical Corticosteroids, Dovonex, synthetic-activated forms of vitamin D3, Coal tars and Tozarac. The next level involves treatments with Utlraviolet Light Phototherapy (eg. UVB ). The final level of treatment involves taking medicines internally such as PUVA-Oxsoralen-Ultra capsules and Soriatane (derived from Vit. A) or Methotrexate which can be taken orally or as an injection to suppress the immune system in order to control the psoriasis. How does PsorCare treats psoriasis? PsorCare Cream Types 

There are three types of Psorcare Cream: yellow, brown and black. You may specify the color when ordering. 

Black (extra strength):  Has a strong, slightly unpleasant smell. Therefor may not be suitable for use in the workplace. However, it lasts longer and is most effective. Needs to be applied 3x daily. 

Brown (medium strength):   Has a relatively pleasant smell. Needs to be applied every 3-4 hours. 

Yellow (regular strength):   Has a pleasant smell. Suitable for use in the workplace and suitable for people with thin skin (i.e., elderly people, babies and toddlers, and people with very fair skin) Needs to be applied more frequently (approximately every 2-3 hours).

 Note: Most of our patients prefer yellow.

How soon can I expect to see significant changes after applying Psorcare?  On the average, it will take 2 to 3 weeks for mild psoriasis and 3 to 4 weeks for severe psoriasis to show significant changes.  This may vary among individual cases. Please follow these directions carefully for full effectiveness of PsorCare

PsorCare Cream is indicated in the management of all types of psoriasis and eczema.

Contra-Indications

There are no known contra-indications.

Administration of PsorCare Cream

It is advisable to first apply PsorCare to a small test area of healthy skin on the lower arm for 24 hours to test for allergic reactions. If any severe reaction occurs, discontinue its use.

Apply PsorCare to the affected area five to seven times a day, or more if neccessary, making sure that the affected area is consistently covered with the ointment. In cases where the skin is scalely, remove the scales before applying PsorCare.

When possible, try to keep the area you are treating uncovered from clothing material.

Only a thin layer of PsorCare needs to be applied at each application, especially for those with fair skin because the skin is very thin.

Diet and other recommendations

Avoid foods that contain high amounts of cholesterol such as eggs, meat, poultry, and seafood. We also recommend that you eliminate alcohol from your diet. See PsorCare Facts for more info on how to introduce these foods back into your normal diet.

If these instructions are followed, significant results can be seen from as early as five days.

Additional notes

If you notice any reddening of the skin after the initial application, this is due to the removal of the thickened keratinized cell layer, exposing the underlying new skin. Do not be alarmed; continue to apply PsorCare thinly to this area until the normal skin cells grow back.

If you are afflicted over a large area or your entire body, we recommend that you apply PsorCare to a smaller test area first to evaluate the effectiveness in your treatment. Through experience we have found that some patients with whole body afflictions may require 2 or more 50 gm jars of PsorCare per week.
